Learning outcomes

● develop and implement projects in the field of power engineering and related interdisciplinary projects, taking into account technical, economic, legal, social and environmental aspects;● make effective decisions on engineering and management issues in the field of power engineering in complex and unpredictable conditions, including the use of modern methods and tools for optimisation, forecasting and decision-making;● manage complex work processes in the field of power engineering, including those that are unpredictable and require new strategic approaches.

Programme of the academic discipline

Module 1.
Content module 1: Theoretical aspects of project management.

Topic 1: General characteristics of project management. The essence of project activity. Project management as a specific branch of management. Goals and processes in project management.
Topic 2. The main forms of organisational structure of projects. Basic principles of creating an organisational structure of the project. The main forms of project structures. Advantages and problems of the matrix structure. Internal organisational structures in large projects.
Topic 3. Project structuring. The essence and functions of project structuring. Unidirectional structuring - creating a working project structure. Bidirectional structuring and coding of the project. Three-directional project structure.
Topic 4. Grid and calendar project planning. General characteristics and types of grid schedules. Precedence charts: order of construction and indicators. Features of arrow graphs. Advantages and additional features of precedence schedules. Grid planning under conditions of uncertainty. Methods of reducing the duration of the project. Calendar planning of projects.

Content module 2. Applied aspects of project management.

Topic 5. Planning resources, costs and project budget. Resource estimation and planning. Construction of resource histograms. Modelling and scheduling of resources. Cost planning.
Topic 6. Control of project implementation. Model of project planning and control. Methods of analysing project implementation. Prediction of final costs. Reporting and change control.
Topic 7. Project quality management. The concept of quality in the context of project management. Project quality management system. Project quality assurance costs.
Topic 8. Software of the project management process. General characteristics of automated project management systems. Microsoft Project. Open Plan Professional. Spider Project. Sure Trek Project Manager. Primavera Project Planner Professional.
